Professors Pounds, Kennedy, and Wielgos Present at CCCC 2006 in Chicago

The English Department was well represented at this year's Conference College Composition and Communication in Chicago, March 21-24.  In their panel entitled, "Going Public with Writing: the Writing Center, the Coffee House, the Web," Professors Kennedy, Pounds, and Wielgos presented papers on the publication and sharing of student writing in Writing Centers, Coffeehouses, and through online portfolios.

Windows Fine Arts Magazine 2006

The Windows Fine Arts Magazine 2006 is currently under development.  Judges continue to review entries, and winners will be notified in March. The magazine will be released at the annual Windows Reception for Winners  on April 19. 

Asst. Prof. Jones has been Editor, Coordinator, and Designer of the magazine for the past four years, and this year sketched and designed the cover with assisted works. The online version of the magazine will be unveiled on April 19th, the same day as the print version, with a link on the English Department Home Page.

Recently, Professor Jones presented a paper on plagiarism titled “The Voice of True Scholarship,” and was inducted as a member of Empire Who’s Who for Executives and Professionals for 2005.

From Dec. 28th to Jan. 9th of 2005, she traveled with Lewis University's Business department to Hong Kong, Shenzen, Guangzhou and Beijing, China to do "Business in China" and learn about Chinese Literature. 

Simone Muench is Honored Again

Simone Muench, Assistant Professor of English, and resident Poet at Lewis University, has just been chosen, by Sarabande Books, as the winner of the 2004 Katherine A. Morton Prize for Poetry.  She will also be publishing her book, Drowning by the Light of Oranges, aka Lampblack and Ash during the coming year.  Congratulations Simone!  You can read more about Simone and her work on her website: www.simonemuench.com
